The activities of this society dates back to 1990s. At that time, Imam Ali’s Popular Students Relief Society commenced their work by establishing their first office at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, acting as the first active student society that aimed to reduce the social vulnerability and harm. Having officially registered at Iran’s ministry of Interior, this society was known as a non-governmental organization, which extended its work to all over the country since then. The members inaugurated their first official place in 2005 on Molavi neighborhood located in Southern part of Tehran and called it “Iranian House” to symbolize the significant attempt of Iranian university students for Iran’s developments. Imam Ali’s Popular Students Relief Society has been granted Special Consultative Status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations at 2010. 

Target Group
Children and women who need to be supported from a wide range of inconveniences are the target community including IDPs and refugees suffered from war and people affected by social issues stem from different kinds of poverty.

Members
IAPSRS’ Members are more than 12000 volunteers that the majority of them are university students or graduates from various universities and fields who have dedicated a part of their life and time to do humanitarian works.

Finance and Expanses
All the expenses of relief activities of IAPSRS are provided by popular donors, private benefactors and micro donations by a large number of people and students.

Geographical range of activities
At the moment, there are more than 30 Service Centers of IAPSRS NGO called “the Iranian Homes” in the most problematic marginalized neighborhoods all around Iran. Nearly 3500 deprived children have been benefiting from the services. In international area, the NGO has concentrated on supporting war torn children in the Middle East especially from Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
