James Duong has a diverse range of work experience in the software engineering field. James is currently working as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Improving. Prior to this, they were a contributor to the Apache Arrow project at The Apache Software Foundation, where they made enhancements to the Flight component. James also co-founded Bit Quill Technologies, where they served as a Lead Software Developer and developed a distributed database engine. James spent a significant part of their career at Simba Technologies, where they worked as a Technical Architect and played a key role in the design and development of the SimbaEngine technology stack. James started their professional journey as a Research Assistant at Natural Resources Canada.

James Duong attended the University of Victoria from 2003 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
