Dr. Matt Higgins (PhD) has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Dr. Matt currently serves as the Insights Director at InCrowd, Inc, where they utilize agile technology and research strategy to deliver high-quality insights within hours. Prior to this, they worked at BioPhorum as a Global Account Manager, specializing in supply chain management and product development facilitation. Dr. Matt also served as a Senior Consultant at Baringa Partners, focusing on data, analytics, and AI. In the academic field, Dr. Higgins held positions at the University of Derby and University of Northampton as an Associate Professor and Lecturer, respectively. Dr. Matt also worked as a Research Associate at Coventry University. In the early stages of their career, they were a Business Improvement Consultant at Siemens, and a Management Consultant at Accenture. Dr. Higgins began their professional journey as a Trainee Manager at Marks and Spencer during their industry placement year.
Dr. Matt Higgins has a diverse education history. In 1994, they began their undergraduate studies at Lancaster University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Business Administration, Management, and Operations in 1998.
After several years, Dr. Higgins pursued further education and enrolled at Liverpool John Moores University in 2005. Dr. Matt earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Sport and Exercise Science (Physiology) in 2008. The following year, they completed the Enterprise Fellowship Programme at the same university, focusing on Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations.
In 2010, Dr. Higgins pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Coventry University, specializing in Human/Muscle/Exercise Physiology & Sports Nutrition. Dr. Matt completed their doctoral studies in 2013.
Dr. Higgins continued to diversify their education by attending the University of Derby in 2014, where they obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, which included Fellowship of Higher Education Authority.
Most recently, in 2022, Dr. Higgins attended the University of Cambridge's Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, where they studied Sustainable Supply Chain Management.
Throughout their educational journey, Dr. Higgins has also obtained various certifications. Notable certifications include Introduction to Collecting and Reporting Adverse Events in Clinical Research from The Global Health Network (2022), Querying Data with Transact-SQL from Microsoft (2020), and Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Microsoft Power BI, also from Microsoft (2020). Dr. Matt has additionally received certifications such as Certified SAFe 5 Scrum Master from Scaled Agile, Inc. (2020). In 2015, Dr. Higgins became a Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
Recently, in 2023, Dr. Higgins acquired certifications in Adverse Event Reporting in Market Research from BHBIA and Legal and Ethical Guidelines – for Market Researchers, also from BHBIA
