Colleen Watkins, Ph.D.

Colleen Watkins, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Colleen is currently working at InDevR, Inc. where they hold the position of Senior Microarray Scientist. Prior to this, they worked as a Microarray Application Scientist at the same company.

Before joining InDevR, Inc., Dr. Watkins was a Researcher PhD Candidate at Colorado State University. Their research focused on long-range interaction networks within 3Dpol and the roles they play in picornavirus genome replication and recombination. During their time at the university, they conducted experiments, performed site-directed mutagenesis, and characterized proteins using enzyme kinetics assays.

Dr. Watkins also gained experience as a Research Assistant at Velocity Sciences, where they were involved in designing and conducting experiments for product development. Colleen was responsible for assay development, testing product prototypes, and managing equipment and reagent inventory.

Prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at Beacon Biotechnology, where they generated preliminary data for the molecular portion of an assay development project. Their responsibilities included nucleic acid sample isolation and purification using rt-qPCR and microarray analysis.

Before their graduate studies, Dr. Watkins held positions at Colorado State University as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and an Undergraduate Research Assistant. Their research focused on the involvement of Lsr2 in biofilm-like growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the study of chloroplast movements by a possible myosin mechanism at Boyce Thompson Institute and Cornell University, where they participated in the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates program.

Overall, Dr. Watkins has a strong background in scientific research, with expertise in microarray technology, molecular biology techniques, and protein characterization. Colleen has demonstrated their ability to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and contribute to product development.

Colleen Watkins, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Colorado State University. Colleen pursued further education and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology also at Colorado State University. Colleen's academic journey spanned from 2008 to 2012 for their undergraduate studies and from 2015 to 2020 for their doctoral degree.
