Sowmya Joshi is currently a Prime Minister's Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, since January 2022. Prior experience includes serving as a Junior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology, Dharwad, where work focused on designing a 2D biosensor for the early diagnosis of lung cancer, and as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Research in Space and Science Technology, PES University, contributing to the development of on-board software for a satellite project. Additional roles as Research Assistant at the University of Hyderabad involved designing a biosensor for pathogen detection in water samples, while summer internships at Volvo Buses and Doordarshan Kendra provided hands-on experience in energy harvesting and broadcasting technology, respectively. Sowmya holds an Integrated M.Tech in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Central University of Karnataka and is pursuing a PhD in Nanotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
