Kimberly Collins, PhD has held a variety of roles in the scientific field since 2000. From 2000 to 2006, they were a Doctoral Researcher at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where they published first author papers in Current Biology, Molecular Biology of the Cell, and Genetics, as well as a dissertation. During this time, they also served as an Adjunct Biology Instructor at North Seattle College from 2006. From 2006 to 2013, they were a Senior Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow / Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, where they discovered 19 new mutants and published two first author papers on the isolation and characterization of the mutants in G3 and Genetics. Kimberly also earned a three-year $147K Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the NIH in June 2007. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Scientific Product Support Specialist at GE Healthcare, where they planned and developed content for marketing documents, user guides and instructions, and scientific articles in support of sales of four product families of high-end microscopes and analysis software valued at up to $1M. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Senior Scientific Marketing Specialist and then a Senior Scientific Marketing Manager at RareCyte, Inc., where they developed marketing collateral, supported product launches, led content development for website redesign, and provided sales support. Currently, they are a Scientific Marketing Manager and Sr. Field Applications Scientist at Indica Labs since 2021.

Kimberly Collins, PhD obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from UC San Diego. In 2018-2019, they also obtained a Certificate in Strategic Marketing from the University of Washington - Michael G. Foster School of Business.
