Christopher Shaefer

Christopher Shaefer is the Assistant Chief of Police for the Indio Police Department in California, a position held since February 2018, where responsibilities include overseeing the Field Services Division, which encompasses various units such as Patrol Operations and Community Outreach. Prior to this role, Christopher had a distinguished career with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from 1992 to 2018, serving in various capacities including Assistant Director, Special Agent in Charge of the Atlanta Field Division, and Deputy Chief of the Office of Management, among others. Christopher’s early career includes service as a police officer in Manteca, California, where duties involved patrol and detective work. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco and an Associate of Science in Administration of Justice from San Joaquin Delta College.
