About the role

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for full cycle accounting and overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the company's financial health and leading a growing team. This role will manage risk and financial reporting using IFRS accounting standards for a SaaS business model. The successful candidate will also lead the accounting software conversion and implement new financial tools as required.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash management, risk management and financial planning processes

  • Manage relationships with external auditors and banks and other financial stakeholders

  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, high performance and continuous improvement

  • Assume overall responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely preparation and review of financial statements, and managing audits and finance team obligations

  • Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and drive financial performance

  • Measure, monitor and report performance objectives and manage dashboard reporting

  • Lead the implementation and optimization of financial report systems and tools. Seek to improve and streamline business processes and controls.

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS standards, tax and other regulatory requirements. Manage risk and risk mitigation, foreign currency, and contract reviews.

  • Effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders

  • Willingness to take on other responsibilities as required with a view for personal development and growth and an openness to new challenges

About you

  • CPA designation preferred and at least 5 years of experience in a senior financial role, preferably in the tech industry

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Pivot tables

  • Excellent understanding of financial principles, practices and regulations

  • Strong skills in analysis, problem solving and strategic thinking

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills and very organized

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Self-motivated, positive attitude and detail-oriented

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of the SaaS business model and IFRS accounting standards

  • Knowledge of Salesforce; experience in creating and streamlining processes is an asset

  • Previous experience in a tech company

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience using QuickBooks; experience leading software conversions
