Andrew Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Andrew is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at Infogrid since January 2022. Prior to this, Andrew founded Friarswood Technology in 2016, where they held the position of Founder. Andrew also worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds from August 2020 to August 2021. Before that, Andrew served as a Quantitative Software Engineer at Aprexo from July 2019 to August 2020. At the University of Leeds, they worked as a Research Fellow at the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics from January 2017 to July 2019. Andrew has also held various roles in quantitative analytics and development, including Director of Quantitative Analytics at RBS Global Banking & Markets from August 2011 to April 2016, Director of Quantitative Development at Daiwa Capital Markets Europe Ltd from December 2008 to July 2011, VP of Equity Quantitative Research at JP Morgan from September 2007 to November 2008, Financial Engineer at Commerzbank from December 2003 to August 2007, and Quantitative Analyst at Sungard Trading & Risk Systems from June 2000 to December 2003.

Andrew Smith has a strong educational background in both physics and finance. Andrew obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from The University of Manchester, graduating in the year 1990. Following this, they pursued further studies and completed a Ph.D. in Physics at The University of Salford, which spanned from 1992 to 1995.

In 1999, Andrew attended Carnegie Mellon University for a year and earned a Certificate in Financial Maths. This added qualification strengthened their expertise in the financial field.

In addition to their formal education, Andrew has obtained two additional certifications. In January 2022, they completed the Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera, showcasing their continued interest in expanding their knowledge in various domains. More recently, in April 2023, they acquired the dbt Fundamentals certification from dbt Labs, further enhancing their skill set.
