The Senior Advisor, Commercial Projects for New Capital Solutions Development (NCSD) is part of Commercial Advisory's Commercial Projects Department within Infrastructure Ontario.  The team is one of the in-house (public sector) consulting arms of Infrastructure Ontario that provides strategy, operations and commercial transactions advice to public sector entities looking to optimize and modernize respective infrastructure assets, service delivery and operations.     The Senior Advisor, Commercial Projects will collaborate with cross-functional and cross-entity IO teams and Clients to support delivery of the NCSD mandate to offer services that could span the full lifecycle of a project: from developing a business case to inform policy decisions, to designing, managing, and executing commercial transactions between the public and private sector. 

What You Will Do:

  • Support the identification and implementation of opportunities (i.e., business cases, commercial advice, transaction management and commercial negotiations) for government to reduce costs and/or increase revenue, and unlock economic value.
  • Facilitate efficient and effective transaction structuring and execution by building relationships across different functions at Infrastructure Ontario, across Ministries, and the broader public and private sectors.
  • Review and prepare all project documentation and supporting material (e.g., business cases, financial analyses, transaction documentation, legal contracts, etc.) to effectively communicate and build consensus with stakeholders around the opportunity.
  • Build / contribute to the development of financial and cost models, evaluating financial feasibility to support recommendations.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice and support complex procurement, vendor engagement and negotiations, and contract execution alongside internal and external expertise.
  • Support project management and ensure delivery of work products on time and within budget.
  • Build and manage relationships across key client and stakeholder teams and within IO shared services teams.
  • Develop internal knowledge management tools and intellectual property.

  • Experience working on large cross-functional teams to deliver complex and high impact projects, ideally supporting commercial transactions and negotiations, with a firm understanding of contracting concepts.
  • A few years of experience supporting the identification and implementation of opportunities for public sector; facilitating project delivery; and developing all project documentation and supporting material to communicate, build support for and to execute the opportunity (e.g., business cases, financial analyses, transaction documentation, briefing decks, etc.).
  • Strong business acumen with an aptitude for strategic thinking gained through advisory experience in an internal strategy team, public policy capacity or a strategy/management consulting role.
  • Ability to successfully navigate ambiguous situations and align multiple stakeholders around a common solution and path forward.
  • A Masters level designation in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio).
