Kai Lu has been in the marketing and analytics field since 2000. Kai began their career as a Business Analyst at McKinsey&Co. in 2000. In 2004, they moved to GLG as a Market Research Manager. In 2006, they joined Sears Holdings Corporation as a Test & Learn Manager, Customer Strategy and Insight. In 2019, they were promoted to VP of Marketing and Growth Analytics at Inhabitr, where they led a team and two agencies to drive full-funnel marketing and analytics. Kai was also responsible for website on-page SEO content, digital assortment management, national & regional pricing, promotional and seasonal offers, and clearance markdowns for excess inventory management. Additionally, they held the roles of Director of Marketing and Digital Merchandising and Director of Product and Pricing.

Kai Lu completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
