While it took Evan some initial navigating to find his way into sales nearly a decade ago, his now-expert balance between people management and active sales is proof that he’s found his calling.
As VP of Sales at Innovative, Evan not only nurtures and develops his team of account representatives on a day-to-day basis; he also continues to exceed his own sales quota, amounting to nearly a third of the company’s accounts.
Evan kicked off his time at Innovative as an Account Executive, where he excelled for nine years actively selling. As his experience at Innovative grew, he found himself extending his familiarity with the internal processes of Innovative, often stepping in to help not only the junior sales reps but others throughout the organization. He feels that responsibility is now amplified as VP of Sales.
Sales wasn’t Evan’s original intention, though. After spending one semester following in his father’s footsteps as an engineering student, Evan quickly found his groove when he switched into business at St. John Fisher College. His first internship in customer service sealed the deal as he discovered how much he loved face-to-face interaction with people.
From senior year on, Evan worked for a network marketing company, quickly working his way up to lead the national roll out of its VoIP reseller division. That California-based VoIP company, 8×8, soon hired Evan to work remotely in B2B sales; a two-year role that left Evan missing the face time he loved so much. Soon after he decided he was ready for a change, a chance encounter with Innovative’s now-CEO, Justin, brought him to Innovative, where he’s been for the last decade.
