Patrick O'Brien has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Patrick started their career in 2009 as a Research Assistant at Binghamton University, where they developed a Monte Carlo algorithm in C++ to minimize the energy of a physical system. Patrick then worked as a Quantitative Analyst Intern at PlusPlus Capital Management, writing a Monte Carlo simulation in C++ and R to analyze the risk of hedge fund portfolios.

Following this, Patrick worked as a Risk Analyst at CommonBond.co, where they supported loan decision software and improved data quality using C++ and SQL. Patrick then joined Corvid Technologies as a Ballistic Missile Defense System Analyst, where they redesigned code to output radar scene information using C++ and MATLAB.

Patrick's next role was as a Software Engineer at Insight Photonic Solutions, where they played a vital role in bringing up a new revision of the laser platform and optimized clock signal edges using an oscilloscope and delay adjustments. Patrick also joined IBM as a Qiskit Metal Developer, working with quantum computing technologies.

Throughout their career, Patrick has demonstrated strong technical skills in programming languages such as C++, R, and MATLAB, as well as experience with algorithms, data analysis, and risk analysis.

Patrick O'Brien pursued their higher education in the field of physics. Patrick obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics from Le Moyne College, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Following this, they joined Binghamton University in 2009 for their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physics, which they successfully completed in 2017.
