Jeroen Van Goey

Jeroen Van Goey has diverse work experience in various industries. Jeroen is currently working as a BioAI Software Developer at InstaDeep Ltd, where they design and implements protein design libraries using Python and Jax. Jeroen also performs computationally intensive tasks with large and complex data using distributed systems. Prior to this, they worked as a Freelance Photographer for their own company, Jeroen Van Goey Photography.

Jeroen's previous roles include working at Barco as a Sr. Software Development Engineer - Machine Learning. In this position, they set up a Machine Learning production pipeline to train deep learning models on multispectral images for detecting and classifying skin cancer melanomas. Jeroen collaborated with research and development teams to develop the backend, as well as the mobile and web frontends.

Before that, Jeroen served as a Bioinformatics Researcher and Manager of the Python & R Platforms at BASF. Jeroen was responsible for the Python and R based data analysis platform used by researchers and data scientists within the organization. Jeroen provided technical and functional support, troubleshooting, and monitoring of the platform.

Jeroen also worked at Bayer Crop Science as a Bioinformatics Researcher and Python Platform Manager, and at Applied Maths, a bioMérieux company, as a Bioinformatics Software Developer. In these roles, they developed software solutions and wrote custom scripts for clients in the field of bioinformatics.

Furthermore, Jeroen gained experience as a First Mate on a 78 foot superyacht, where they were responsible for the maintenance of the ship and various sailing activities. Jeroen also worked as a Programmer Intern at Biogazelle and as a Technical Helpdesk Engineer for the Flemish Government at EDS Group. Additionally, they briefly served as a Customer Service Representative for Hewlett Packard at Sitel.

Jeroen Van Goey has a diverse education history in the field of biology and bioinformatics. In 1997, they obtained their M.Sc. degree in Biology, although the name of the institution is not mentioned. Jeroen then had an Erasmus interuniversity exchange experience in 2002.
