Nicolás Lopez Carranza has a diverse and extensive work experience background. Nicolás is currently the Head of BioAI at InstaDeep Ltd, where they have been since June 2020. Prior to this role, they served as the DeepChain Product Lead at the same company from May 2020 to June 2020, and as a Software Development Team Lead from January 2020 to May 2020.
Before joining InstaDeep Ltd, Nicolás worked as an Ad Honorem Hackathon Organiser at Zindi from March 2020 onwards. Nicolás also served as a Senior Software Engineer at Count from September 2018 to January 2020.
Nicolás has a strong background in the oil and gas industry, having worked at Schlumberger as a Senior Software Engineer from September 2016 to September 2018. Prior to that, they held the role of Scientific Software Engineer at the same company from January 2013 to September 2016. In these positions, they were responsible for developing and enhancing simulators for fluid flow in oil and gas reservoirs, creating new features and physical models.

Nicolás Lopez Carranza began their education at Instituto Balseiro from 2002 to 2007, where they obtained an Engineer's degree. Nicolás then pursued a Master's degree in Materials Science at UPC School (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) from 2007 to 2008. In 2008 to 2009, Nicolás attended Ecole Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux for another Master's degree in Materials Science. Subsequently, they enrolled at Universite de Lorraine from 2009 to 2012, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Fluid Mechanics.
In terms of additional certification, Nicolás received multiple certifications related to data science and cloud computing. Nicolás obtained certifications such as "DAT101x: Microsoft Professional Program: Data Science Orientation" from Microsoft in September 2017 and "Google Cloud Platform Big Data and Machine Learning Fundamentals" from Coursera in the same month and year. Nicolás also completed other certifications like "Serverless Data Analysis with Google BigQuery and Cloud Dataflow", "Serverless Machine Learning with Tensorflow on Google Cloud Platform", "Leveraging Unstructured Data with Cloud Dataproc on Google Cloud Platform", "Building Resilient Streaming Systems on Google Cloud Platform", and "Data Engineering on Google Cloud Platform Specialization", all from Coursera.
