Head of Marketing and Communication at Instagrid

Tuuli Makela has a long and varied work history. In 2006, they began their career as a Stagiere at Laffineur Law Firm, where they conducted research, analysis, and reporting on different parts of EU legislation for use in litigation. Tuuli also completed an extensive research project comparing regulatory environments for medicinal products in EU and USA. In 2008, they moved to the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, where they followed, analyzed, and reported on international and EU climate policy as a Research Assistant. From 2009 to 2020, they worked at EK – Confederation of Finnish Industries – Elinkeinoelämän keskusliitto EK, where they held several positions and covered different responsibilities, gaining experience and expertise in areas such as sustainability, circular economy, climate & energy, corporate responsibility, and entrepreneurship, growth & renewal. Tuuli also wrote policy papers, implemented advocacy strategies, and liaised regularly with decision-makers & key partners to influence policy outcomes. In 2020, Tuuli Makela joined ZenRobotics Ltd. as Head Of Marketing. At ZenRobotics, they are responsible for promoting the company's robots, powered by proprietary AI software, which make recycling more efficient, accurate, and profitable. Currently, Tuuli Makela is the Head of Marketing and Communication at instagrid, a position they have held since 2022.

Tuuli Makela has an extensive education history. Tuuli obtained their Master of Business Administration - MBA from Aalto University Executive Education Ltd in 2020, with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Tuuli also obtained an MSc from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2008, with a focus on Environmental Policy and Regulation. In 2019, they began a Master of Business Administration - MBA at the National University of Singapore. In addition, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Vesalius College in 2007, with a focus on International Affairs and Economics. Tuuli also has a certification from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, which they obtained in 2010.
