Steve Kelly

Steven M. Kelly, CISSP, has an extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and technology. Steven M. currently holds the position of Chief Trust Officer at the Institute for Security and Technology (IST) starting from August 2023. Prior to this role, they served as the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Cybersecurity and Emerging Technology at the National Security Council (NSC) in The White House from July 2022 to July 2023.

Before their time at the NSC, Steven had a long career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Steven M. held various roles, including Chief of Cyber Policy, Chief of the International Cyber Crime Coordination Cell (IC4), and Unit Chief of the Cyber Criminal Unit-3/National Cyber Task Force Unit. Steven M. also served as a Supervisory Special Agent and Special Agent in the Cyber Squad. Steven M.'stenure at the FBI spanned from December 2001 to July 2023.

In 2013, Steven briefly returned to the National Security Council in The White House as the Director for Cybersecurity Policy from June 2013 to September 2015. Prior to their work in cybersecurity, Steven started their career as a Civil Engineer (Transportation) at URS Corporation, An AECOM Company, from April 1996 to December 2001.
