Asuka Hisa is a distinguished professional in the field of museum practice and contemporary art education. Currently serving as the Smithsonian Institution Fellow in Museum Practice, Hisa's research focuses on hybrid learning and engagement strategies in contemporary art museums. The Director of Learning and Engagement at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles since June 2015, Hisa has led various public programs and initiatives aimed at diverse audiences. Additional roles include being a lecturer at UCLA, an adjunct faculty member at Otis College of Art and Design, and serving on the boards of Automata and Crayon Collection. Hisa's previous leadership positions include Director of Education and Public Programs at the Santa Monica Museum of Art and service as an Arts Commissioner for the City of Santa Monica. Hisa holds a BA in American Studies from Barnard College and a Diplôme National d’Arts Plastiques from the Ecole nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts.
