Josh Hayes is a highly experienced Natural Hazard and Risk Scientist, currently working at GNS Science since January 2022, and previously served as a Research Fellow in Volcanic Hazard and Risk at the Earth Observatory of Singapore from January 2020 to January 2022. Prior to these roles, Josh held various positions including Laboratory Demonstrator, Student, and Research Assistant at the University of Canterbury from February 2009 to January 2020. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Disaster Risk and Resilience from the University of Canterbury, a Diploma Certificate in geological and climate-related risk from the University of Geneva, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Hazard and Disaster Management, also from the University of Canterbury. Undergraduate studies culminated in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology and Geography from the same institution.
