April Ashley Oviedo, LMSW, serves as a Victim Advocate at The University of Texas at Austin, providing crisis support and case management for victims and bystanders affected by crime. With extensive experience at The SAFE Alliance since 2013, April has held multiple roles focused on ensuring safe visitations and providing crisis intervention to survivors of sexual assault. April also has a background in mental health education, having trained over 1,200 participants in Mental Health First Aid as an instructor at Integral Care. Additionally, April has experience in clinical settings, delivering therapy to children and families affected by abuse, and managing case supports for parents in recovery through the Travis County Drug Court Treatment Program. April holds a Master of Science in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.
