Development Scientist

Integrated Graphene have an exciting opportunity for a Development Scientist to join their rapidly expanding research & development department. You will join our Sensors team, developing High Sensitivity Low-Cost biosensors on our propriety Gii-Sens technology.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career scientist to work in a high-growth environment with a fast-paced and collaborative culture where you will work with some fantastic customers conducting research at the forefront of science and technology.

Your purpose in the Role:

You will be responsible for the development of diagnostic assays on our propriety Gii-Sens™ technology. 

What you will do and how you will succeed:

  • Design and build reagents to facilitate in-vitro diagnostics assay development

  • Develop and execute electrochemical experiments, aligning tests to the needs of projects

  • Design and develop wet assay chemistries and translate their analytical performance characteristics to dry assays while ensuring equivalent performance and reliability

  • Write and execute R&D protocols and where necessary, validation and verification protocols

  • Provide scientific input into product and process developments to ensure optimum performance as well as client satisfaction

  • Support other development scientists and the wider team with delivery of key assay performance parameters as defined by goal-setting process

  • Carry out and meticulously document experimental workload

  • Participate in team meetings and progress updates, presenting results to your colleagues regularly

  • Prepare technical documentation including standard operating procedures and reports

  • Staying up to date with current industry and research trends

Who we are looking for:

  • A clear, demonstrable enthusiasm for new technologies

  • Broad working knowledge and hands-on experience with Electroanalytical Chemistry is essential

  • Ability to follow complex protocols accurately and suggest ideas for possible method improvements

  • A self-sufficient individual capable of applying and evaluating appropriate electrochemical techniques and characterisation applicable to biosensors

  • Rigorous experimental approach and proficient data management skills

  • Successful candidates will be qualified within a relevant scientific Masters degree as a minimum, PhD qualified candidates are desirable

  • A team player with a proactive approach towards working in a multi-disciplinary research team on complex problems

  • To be successful you will have excellent communications skills and experience presenting high quality research reports and publications to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience within a professional scientific environment in recent years, either as PhD candidate or through work experience in a similar role
