We are expanding our manufacturing operations and are opening a second shift, Friday to Sunday, with three (3) 12-hour days.

We have multiple openings for Carpenters with 6+ years of experience.

About You: To be an ideal candidate for this role, You enjoy a variety of construction tasks, including framing, window installation, waterproofing, and installing insulation. You may have previous experience in a pre-fab manufacturing environment, such as modular homes, or a strong background in construction carpentry, particularly in renovations, restorations, or single-family housing construction.

You prefer working in team settings and have good communication skills.  You are proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. You will work in a very busy, output and quality focused team so must be highly adaptable, and able to manage changing priorities, with a positive attitude.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in carpentry techniques, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

What you Will Do: You will be part of a team of carpenters, helpers, and ABB Robots, working collaboratively under the guidance of the Production/Carpenter Leads and Manager, Production.

You will leverage your construction and carpentry skills and meticulous attention to detail to refine and advance the processes used to pre-fabricate our envelope and floor cassette products. As we expand and grow, you may also be involved in the continuous development of infrastructure projects within the manufacturing facility.

You will handle a range of materials, including insulation (Rockwool), membranes, windows, and various types of cladding. Depending on your assigned work area, you may kitt or assemble pre-fabricated mass-timber envelope panels and floor cassettes and ensure the final product meets quality standards.

You will primarily work indoors, shielded from the outdoor elements most of the day.

Open Positions: 3 (of 5) open positions remaining   Location: DELTA, BC - On-site full-time in a pre-fab mass-timber manufacturing facility   Work Hours - B Shift Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12 hours per day with Shift Premium   Onboarding: As we ramp up to a two-shift manufacturing facility, the onboarding and training period will be during a regular work week, Monday through Friday. If you have prior commitments, we will consider an alternative schedule to be discussed during the interview process.   Our current work schedule is Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm shift. Shift B's schedule is targeted to start at the end of August/September.   We are accepting applications from within the lower mainland, BC, only.  

The Responsibilities, include but not limited to:

  • Arrive punctually and ready for work, equipped with the necessary tools and materials to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Set up safety measures, including proper ladder and safety equipment setup, and adhere to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to guide work.
  • Calculate material requirements, prepare the work area accordingly, and develop layouts, templates, and jigs as needed.
  • Operate hand tools and machinery skillfully and safely.
  • Measure, cut, prepare and kit various materials such as insulation, membranes, and other materials for assembly.
  • Precisely install windows, ensuring proper positioning and securing within frames.
  • Place insulation, membranes, and various types of cladding to create envelope panels.
  • Install siding trim, soffit, fascia, and flashing as required.
  • Work effectively at various heights using ladders, scissor lifts, and other equipment as needed.
  • Move materials and finished products efficiently within the facility, including operating overhead cranes.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures meticulously.
  • Collaborate effectively with others to meet project specifications and deadlines.
  • Update the lead carpenter on task progress and issues, proposing solutions as needed.
  • Follow instructions to ensure work meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Help assign tasks to junior carpenters and provide support and guidance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce waste.
  • Contribute actively to team efforts, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Adhere to administrative policies and procedures as updated periodically.
  • Complete other duties as we may request which are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.

Education & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Haves, but can be certified on the job if needed:- Red Seal Journeyman, an asset

  • Rigging ticket
  • Level 1 or 2 Occupational First Aid certification
  • Class I forklift license
  • Telehandler ticket
  • WHIMS

Skills & Experience, Required:

  • 6+ years of Construction experience, especially in renovations, restorations, or single-family housing construction.
  • Strong foundation in construction and carpentry techniques, including framing, windows and cladding.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision and work collaboratively in teams.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
  • Competence in working at various heights using ladders, scissor lifts, and other equipment.
  • Willingness to practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete work tasks on schedule with clear timelines.
  • Preference for working in teams and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully both internally and externally.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, output-focused team, managing changing priorities with a positive attitude.

Nice to Haves:- Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset

  • Experience with manual & digitally assisted mass timber construction tasks.
  • Experience with prefabrication of mass timber panels and modules, including finishing.

Important to Mention!

  • Must provide your own CSA-approved 6” safety footwear, required.
  • Certain job tasks will require you to be clean-shaven and wear a fit-tested respirator or N95 mask
  • Proof of ability to remain and work in Canada.
  • Successful candidates may be required to submit to a background check.
