Sangeeta Sawhney M.D.

Sangeeta Sawhney, MD has a vast and extensive work experience in the medical field. Sangeeta started their career at PPD in 2004 as a Medical Director and gradually progressed to become the Lead Medical Director, overseeing the Medical Affairs group in North and South Americas. Sangeeta demonstrated strong leadership skills by leading the Medical/Clinical teams in the development and implementation of initiatives for improved efficiency and quality. In 2014, they joined Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as a Senior Medical Director, where they oversaw Clinical Development activities for Phase 3 ready compounds in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Sangeeta also served as the Executive Medical Director, leading Clinical Development activities for Phase 2-3 programs with a focus in Type 1 diabetes. Sangeeta was responsible for formulating Clinical Development Plans, clinical and operational strategies, and leading protocol development for clinical trials. In 2020, Sangeeta joined Immunovant, Inc. as the Vice President of Clinical Development, where they planned and executed the development strategy for therapies targeting autoimmune diseases. Sangeeta brought their expertise in drug development and played a key role in shaping the development of the biotech startup. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Clinical Development at Intercept Pharmaceuticals.

Sangeeta Sawhney, MD pursued their education at the University of Miami from 1995 to 1999, where they earned their MD degree specializing in Internal Medicine.
