Karen Omelchuk has over 25 years of work experience in the healthcare industry. Karen has held various roles in different organizations, including the Interior Health Authority, Mental Health Research Canada, On Management Health Group, Alberta Mental Health Board, and also worked as a Clinical Dietitian. In their most recent position as the Director of Clinical Operations for Mental Health & Substance Use at the Interior Health Authority, they were responsible for overseeing the delivery of mental health and substance use services in the Central Okanagan region. Karen has also held positions such as the Network Director for Mental Health & Substance Use, Mental Health & Substance Use Health Services Administrator, and Long Term Care Health Services Administrator. Additionally, they have experience in strategic planning, health system planning, and research and evaluation. Karen Omelchuk has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for Mental Health Research Canada.
Karen Omelchuk earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from The University of British Columbia, which they attended from 1990 to 1994. Karen then pursued a Master of Business Administration at the University of Calgary from 1998 to 2000. In 2016, Karen obtained an Advanced Diploma in Gerontology from Selkirk College. Additionally, they completed a program in Management and use of evidence at the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement in 2011 and received Certifications as a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE) from the Canadian College of Health Leaders, an EXTRA Fellow from the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement, and IAP2 certification from the International Association for Public Participation.
