Najib Bajali

Head of Policy & Practice, Peace Economies at International Alert

Najib heads up their work on Peace Economies, working on understanding and influencing economic drivers of conflict and peace. He works closely with country teams supporting and advising on peace economies programming through enhanced political economy analysis, looking at the varied contribution of different economic actors to peacebuilding. He also works closely with their Advocacy and Communication team to influence policies on peace and the economy on global and national levels.

Prior to joining Alert, Najib served as MENA Head of Advocacy and Social Justice Programming at Open Doors International, where he led the organisation’s advocacy engagement on human rights issues. Prior to that he worked in different research and communication positions in the UK, and grassroots peacebuilding in Northern Ireland.

Najib holds an M.Phil. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation from Trinity College Dublin, a PGDip in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Oxford, and a BSc in Geology from the University of Aleppo.
