Nadejda Komendantova serves as the Group Leader for the Cooperation and Transformative Governance Group at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) since April 2008, focusing on the complex decision-making processes in social-ecological systems towards sustainability. Nadejda has held positions as a Senior Research Scholar and Project Manager, particularly for the HES-EDS project addressing social and environmental challenges in European-MENA renewable power cooperation, funded by the European Research Council during a tenure at ETH Zürich from 2013 to 2017. Previous roles include consultancy on energy efficiency and renewable energy technology transfer to Azerbaijan with UNIDO and project leadership on energy efficiency initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe with IIBW. Nadejda holds a PhD in Development Economics from the State University of Engineering and Finances, along with post-graduate and MSc degrees in international relations and economics from the Diplomatic Academy and State University of Saint-Petersburg, respectively.
