Ceena Johnson

Regional Counsel, North America at International Justice Mission

Ceena Johnson serves as IJM’s Regional Counsel for North America and Data Privacy Specialist. She ensures risk is managed with integrity and efficiency while keeping the organization agile and responsive to opportunities. Her journey with IJM started in 2012 when she came on board as a Student Mobilization Intern in D.C. shortly after completing her bachelor’s degree. Then, while in law school, she served as a legal intern in IJM’s Zambia office, where she worked to protect the rights of widows and orphans.   

In 2018, Ceena joined IJM full-time as a Legal fellow after practicing law in Minnesota.

Ceena was born in India and grew up in New York. She holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School with concentrations in international and human rights law and earned her B.A in English from St. John’s University. She currently lives in Virginia with her husband and two young children—and if she has a few free minutes, you may find her trying new foods or curled up with a good book and chai.
