Jo Assael

Jo Assael has a diverse and extensive work experience in the maritime industry, specializing in yacht design and construction. They have held various leadership roles in different companies, including International Registries, Inc., where they currently work as the Yachts Commercial Director. Prior to that, they served as the Commercial Director at Döhle Yachts and held positions such as Director and Technical Director.

Before joining Döhle Yachts, Jo worked at the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry as a Yacht Codes Specialist and Surveyor, responsible for developing yacht codes and conducting audits and surveys. They also worked at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as a Principal for Marine Technology, where they were involved in implementing international legislation and serving as a technical specialist at the International Maritime Organization.

Earlier in their career, Jo worked as a Principal Naval Architect at LAURENT GILES NAVAL ARCHITECTS LIMITED, specializing in the design and construction of large yachts. They have also worked as a Freelance Naval Architect at US Submarines and as a Naval Architect at Brilliant Boats LLC. Their projects include working on notable vessels such as P/V MARYAH, M/Y STELLA MARIS, and M/Y ROMA.

Overall, Jo Assael has a strong background in yacht design, construction, codes, and regulations, with extensive experience in leadership roles within the industry.

Jo Assael attended Wellington College from 1997 to 2002. From 2003 to 2006, Jo pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Naval Architecture at Solent University.
