John Stapleton

Deputy Director, Communications at International Republican Institute

John Stapleton is currently the Deputy Director of Communications at the International Republican Institute. Prior to this, they worked as a speechwriter for Senator Rob Portman, a senior professional staff member on the Foreign Affairs Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the communications director for Congressman Marlin Stutzman. John also worked for the Republican Party of Virginia as the deputy director of election day operations during Victory 2012. Stapleton has also been with the International Republican Institute previously, working as a program assistant in the Asia division where they helped oversee good governance and democracy promotion initiatives in Cambodia, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Timor-Leste.

John Stapleton is a current student at George Mason University, where they are working towards their Master of Arts in Global Affairs - Conflict and Security. John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from American University, and a Master of Arts in Political Science: Comparative Politics from American University. John is also a graduate of Middletown North High School.
