Huzan Waqar

Huzan Waqar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in project coordination, advocacy, and communications within prominent humanitarian organizations. Currently serving as the RISE Consortium Coordinator at the International Rescue Committee since December 2015, Huzan leads a $55 million project funded by the FCDO, focusing on effective execution through local partnerships. Huzan's previous roles include Senior Partnerships and Communications Coordinator, where strategic communications were revitalized, and Project Coordinator - Advocacy Lead, emphasizing research on refugee issues and empowering refugee-led organizations. At Oxfam, Huzan managed influencing and communication strategies for a multi-INGO consortium, and earlier roles at Save the Children involved media strategies and food security projects. Huzan holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication and a certificate in Women in Leadership from Stellenbosch Business School.
