Mei Xu is a Senior Vice President of IWBI (Asia). Based in Shanghai China, Mei joined the International WELL Building Institute™ with extensive experience in health and wellness in the built environment. Her work within IWBI focuses on providing technical support on the WELL Building Standard™ (WELL) for project teams enrolled in WELL in China, WELL Performance Testing Agents and Organizations, as well as industry professionals engaged as part of IWBI’s global community. Mei works closely with project teams to ensure coordinated coaching support and collaboration to resolve clients’ questions and to support the market’s rapid success through broad adoption of the WELL Building Standard. She is also responsible for the management of the coaching team in China.
Prior to working with IWBI, she has years of research and consultancy experience, contributing to sustainable design and construction projects, specialized in optimizing design strategies in sustainability, building physics computational simulation and analysis, green building technology research, health and wellness strategies, project management, as well as oversight and coordination of a wide range of building certifications.
Mei holds a MSc degree in Renewable Energy and Architecture from the University of Nottingham, UK and a BEng in Building Environment and Facility from Tsinghua University, China. She is also a WELL Faculty, WELL AP, LEED AP BD+C, and Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) accredited by American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
