Kentaro Takano

Director Of Technology at Intevac

Kentaro Takano has a diverse work experience in the technology and innovation field. Kentaro started their career at IBM in 1998 as a Postdoctoral Researcher and later became a Characterization Engineer, leading research programs on advanced media and novel materials for thin film recording. In 2003, they joined HGST, a Western Digital brand, where they served as a Senior Engineer and Manager, overseeing global R&D efforts for disruptive technologies and leading the transfer of advanced media technologies to the development team. Since 2019, Kentaro has been working at Intevac, where they have held roles such as Member of Technical Staff and Senior Manager in the Technology & Innovation Group. Kentaro is currently the Director of Technology at Intevac. Throughout their career, Kentaro has demonstrated expertise in process development, thin film material science, reliability testing, and optimization techniques using Design of Experiments. Kentaro has made significant contributions in reducing technology transfer time, developing key media technologies, and guiding teams in the development of mass production technologies.

Kentaro Takano holds a Ph.D. in Physics from UC San Diego, as well as a Physics B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
