Christie Barnes is the Assistant General Counsel at Invest Atlanta. Prior to their current position, Ms. Barnes was the Chief Staff Attorney for the Clayton County Board of Commissioners from October 2005 to May 2016. Ms. Barnes has also served as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Atlanta from June 2001 to February 2005, where they provided legal services to various departments, served as co-counsel for jury and bench trials, and drafted legislation for City Council’s review, among other duties. From February 2005 to October 2005, Ms. Barnes worked as an associate at Stillwell & Associates, P.C. Additionally, Ms. Barnes clerked for Theresa A. Hood Law Office from October 2000 to May 2001. Ms. Barnes received their J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 2000 and their B.A. from Spelman College in 1997.

Christie Barnes completed their undergraduate studies at Spelman College, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Christie then attended Emory University School of Law, where they earned their Juris Doctor.
