Gareth Witten has extensive experience in the financial industry, specializing in investment risk management. Gareth is currently serving as the Vice President at the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO), where they provide risk-related decision support for large transactions and ventures into new markets. Additionally, Gareth is an Adjunct Faculty Instructor for the Masters in Mathematical Finance program at the University of Toronto. Prior to their current roles, they held positions at Ontario Power Generation, Weizmann Canada, the Smith School of Business at Queen's University, and the Global Risk Institute. Gareth also has experience as the Head of Investment Oversight at STANLIB and as the Managing Director for Research & Innovation at Industry Science Solutions. Gareth has a strong academic background, having been an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Business - University of Cape Town, where they taught courses in mathematical finance and supervised students and fellows.
Gareth Witten's education history includes attending the Harvard Business School Executive Education in 2015 for the Investment Management Workshop. Gareth completed their PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Cape Town from 1999 to 2002, and pursued MSc coursework in Mathematics at Wesleyan University from 1998 to 2000.
