Trevor Steiner

Trevor Steiner is a Senior Photonics Engineer at IonQ since March 2024, following a doctoral program in Materials at UC Santa Barbara under Professors John Bowers, completed in February 2024. Previous experience includes an internship at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where Trevor screened GaAs-based lasers for Q-switching and assessed high off-resonance powers on ring modulators. As an intern at the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Trevor researched asphalt compaction's impact on dielectric constants and developed data analysis tools using Matlab. Additionally, Trevor worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, focusing on organic light-emitting diodes, and gained research experience modeling dipole influences in 2D materials at Northwestern University. Earlier roles include tutoring students in various subjects and serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation from May 2015 to November 2016. Trevor holds a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science from the University of Minnesota and a PhD in Materials from UC Santa Barbara.
