Simon then attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for a year from 1989 to 1990. Simon did not obtain a degree during this time.

In 2008 and 2009, Simon pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Defence Studies at King's College London.

Simon continued their education in 2010 when they took a short course in UK Resilience (Emergency & Crisis Management) Planning & Preparedness at the Emergency Planning College (The EPC).

In 2019, they completed the courses "Sustainable Development in Humanitarian Action" from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC, "Environmental Challenges: Scarcity & Conflict in the natural environment" from the University of Leeds, and "Social Media in Healthcare - Opportunity and Challenges" from Taipei Medical University. In 2022, they obtained certifications in "Global Health, Conflict & Violence" from the University of Bergen (UiB) and "PTSD in the Global Context" from the University of Glasgow. Furthermore, in 2019, they completed the course "Introduction to Strategic Doing" from Purdue University.
