Deirdre O' Shaughnessy

Deirdre O' Shaughnessy is an accomplished news editor with extensive experience in journalism and media management. Currently serving as the News Editor for the Irish Examiner since October 2020, Deirdre leads a diverse team to deliver impactful news across various platforms. Prior to this role, Deirdre was the editor and presenter of Cork's 96fm's award-winning daily talk show, Opinion Line, and also worked as an event MC and freelance writer for several notable publications. Deirdre's editorial experience includes holding the position of editor at Cork Independent Newspapers and deputy editor at Galway Independent Newspapers, among other roles. Academically, Deirdre possesses an MSc in Commerce with a focus on Political Science and Government from University College Cork and a First Class Honours degree in Law, French, and Sociology from the University of Limerick.
