Andrea Okerholm Huttlin

Andrea Okerholm Huttlin has extensive work experience in the field of robotics engineering. Andrea started their career at iRobot as a Software Engineer in 2005 and worked on various projects including the development of advanced capability Roomba vacuum cleaning robots and the Scooba 230 floor mopping robot. Andrea also served as a Senior Software Engineer and was responsible for the wireless remote control of Roomba 700. In 2012, they became a Principal Software Engineer at iRobot and took on the role of a Principal Robotics Engineer in the Technology Organization in 2013. As a Principal Robotics Engineer, Andrea led a team of 10 developers and was involved in the development of a new cameraless SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) system for the Roomba i3 EVO. Andrea worked on backend development and software re-architecture for the GraphSLAM system. Andrea's work at iRobot continued until 2023, where they held the positions of Principal Robotics Engineer and Senior Principal Robotics Engineer, SLAM. Additionally, they pursued a side career as a freelance musician, specifically as a Mezzo-soprano, starting in 2008. Prior to their time at iRobot, Andrea worked at Northrop Grumman as a Software Engineer from 2001 to 2005, where they contributed to the development of a vision-based autonomous mobile maritime robot and presented their work at conferences.

Andrea Okerholm Huttlin holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in the same field from Carnegie Mellon University as well.
