Senior Data Scientist at Itera

Henrik Gjestang has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies.

Starting in 2015, they worked as a Technical Support Engineer at the University of Oslo (UiO), where they provided efficient IT solutions and support, troubleshooting network problems, performing hardware maintenance, and scripting in PowerShell and Bash. Henrik excelled in helpdesk support, emphasizing clear communication and timely response. Their tenure at UiO lasted until January 2020.

In 2020, Henrik joined Optimeering AS as a Machine Learning Engineer. Henrik worked on multiple cutting-edge projects that focused on AI technology in the power industry. Notably, they contributed to Project Hawk, collaborating with NVE and Nordic regulators, transmission operators, and market participants to investigate advanced machine learning methodologies for market surveillance. Henrik left Optimeering AS in October 2021.

Currently, Henrik is working at Itera as a Senior Data Scientist, a position they have held since July 2023. Prior to this role, they were a Data Scientist at the same company, starting in October 2021. At Itera, Henrik specializes in data engineering, Data Analysis eXpressions (DAX), Power Query, data visualization, and data science. Henrik is proficient in Python and SQL, using Microsoft Power BI for comprehensive data analysis and visualization. Henrik's valuable insights derived from their work in data science have influenced key business decisions for Itera's customers.

Throughout their career, Henrik has consistently demonstrated their expertise and contributed to various innovative projects in the field of data science and machine learning within the power industry.

Henrik Gjestang has a strong educational background in the field of science, electronics, and computational science. Henrik obtained a Master's degree in Computational Science: Imaging and Biomedical Computing from the University of Oslo (UiO) between 2018 and 2020. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Data Science: Microelectronics at the same university from 2014 to 2018. Henrik also participated in a 1-year Science program at the University of Oslo in 2013-2014.

Before pursuing higher education, Henrik attended Skedsmo VGS from 2009 to 2012, where they studied Realfag (a general term for science subjects).

In addition to their formal education, Henrik has also acquired various certifications. These include Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals, AI Trainer from boost.ai, Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, and Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals. Henrik obtained these certifications between 2021 and 2022.
