Your focus

Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will set up and deliver ITM’s market and business development activities within the US and South America. You will drive our US market growth strategy through originating high-quality sales opportunities and building strategic customer relationships in line with the ITM Power brand and market positioning. The role will be fundamental in helping our customers to decarbonise their businesses and grow green hydrogen’s role in delivering net-zero.

The candidate must be able to represent the business professionally – with credibility in the marketplace, enhancing ITM's brand and reputation and interfacing with senior customer and industry stakeholders. This role is critical to the success of ITM Power as it continues to develop its global footprint, leading the business in attracting and winning new clients.

It is expected that travel (domestic and international) will be a fundamental part of this role.

Main responsibilities include:

  • US Market, customer and competitor analysis to drive business planning, opportunity identification and to inform wider business strategy

  • New business acquisition - develop and execute strategies to acquire new customers and partners, including the identification of potential leads and growth sectors

  • Originating and developing high quality sales opportunities in line with ITM strategy to deliver against pipeline and sales targets

  • Gain and share a strong understanding of commercial contracting and grant funding models and requirements within the US

  • In the business development phase, leading the development of high quality commercial and technical responses to the customer procurement processes. This will involve working closely with the engineering, sales and legal teams

  • During sales execution, supporting the sales team with the submission of tenders and bids, ensuring they are compelling and meet customer requirements, driving a culture of ‘winning work’ throughout US markets

  • Develop long term strategic relationships with key customers, ensuring ITM is ahead of the competitors for high value projects

  • Defining and executing customer account strategy, mobilising the wider business in support of key accounts

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key US EPC companies with whom ITM will contract and collaborate to deliver large scale green hydrogen projects

  • Provide regular data and reports on the progress of business development activities and the impact on company growth

  • Attending conferences/exhibitions to represent and promote ITM interests

  • Supporting strategic projects and partnership discussions where these relate to the US market

Skills and capabilities

  • Degree qualified – customer focused with the ability to engage in engineering discussions
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic sales activities in an industrial context including tendering and bid processes
  • Previous green energy / clean tech experience is essential to be credible with our customers–
  • Experience of development, contracting and execution of large-scale energy projects
  • Familiarity with green hydrogen / electrolysis technologies and U.S. power markets (ERCOT, SPP, WECC, CAISO, NYISO, PJM, etc) are a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Engineering Industry conditions of contract
  • Proficient user of MS packages
  • Fluent English Language both written and verbal. Additional languages beneficial
  • Have the skill set to blend the strategic with the operational delivery
  • Stakeholder management (customers, partners and collaborators)
  • Confidence working in a dynamic market with developing technology
  • Previous focus on sales growth in a technology deployment environment would be advantageous
  • Experience in writing strategic, engaging and fit for purpose commercial documentation

We offer a comprehensive and competitive remuneration package. You will largely be working from home when not travelling for business purposes (expected travel would be approx. 50% of the working month).
