José Subero

José Subero has extensive work experience in the field of design and architecture. Their most recent role was as the Global Design Director at IWG plc, starting in September 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Design Specialist at Design Council from April 2021. José also held multiple roles at Miro, including Global Lead Design and Innovation, and Workplace Strategist.

Before joining Miro, José worked as a Senior Consultant Workplace Strategy (Global) at ING Nederland, where they provided strategic advice on workplace and new retail banking concepts globally. José was responsible for managing relationships with nine countries, driving the development and safeguarding of Global Guidelines and Implementation Framework, and reviewing real estate portfolio and investment plans.

José also gained valuable experience at Starbucks, where they held various roles including Senior Designer, Design Manager, Senior Project Designer, and Project Designer in the International Store Design & Concepts EMEA team. José was responsible for developing new stores, refurbishments, and major projects in different regions.

Additionally, José has experience as a Concept Developer at Pivot, where they worked on award-winning design initiatives. José also worked as a Tutor in Sustainable Design Elective at Willem de Kooning Academie Hogeschool Rotterdam.

Furthermore, José had their own independent design professional practice and collaborated with other companies and design collectives. José was involved in projects such as Ruilbank, which focused on public space initiatives, and Natureza Urbana, a self-initiated public space project.

Earlier in their career, José worked as an Architect for ReCUA | Red Caribeña de Urbanismo & Arquitectura, where they were involved in sustainable projects of landscape architecture, urban, and regional planning in the Caribbean region.

José Subero has a Master's degree in Design (MDes) with a focus on Sustainability & Social Design, which they obtained from Design Academy Eindhoven. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Architecture & Urbanism from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña. José Subero also completed an online Innovation Week program at Future London Academy. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained a certification in Dutch as a Second Language (NT2-II) from Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) in 2013.
