Nora Skotko

Professional Learning Specialist at IXL Learning

Nora Skotko has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Starting in 2014, they worked as a Middle School Teacher for Teach For America, where they were responsible for developing instructional plans and daily lesson plans aligned with state standards. Nora also held leadership positions within the school, including committee chair and grade level chair.

In 2016, Nora joined Uncommon Schools as a Mathematics Teacher. Nora delivered mathematics instruction to students and consistently achieved above-average results on state assessments. Nora also received recognition for their exceptional instruction, including being filmed for network-wide professional development and winning the Teacher of the Year award in 2020. Nora later became the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, managing the Mathematics team and overseeing the execution of mathematics instruction for grades 5-8. Nora successfully recruited and onboarded qualified candidates and built strong relationships with stakeholders.

In 2019, Nora briefly served as the Summer Teaching Fellows Director at Uncommon Schools, where they mentored and coached a team of teachers and fellows, coordinated logistics for Summer Academy, and facilitated communication between mentors and fellows.

Most recently, Nora will be joining IXL Learning as a Professional Learning Specialist starting in 2023.

Nora Skotko's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University, which they obtained from 2009 to 2013. Nora then pursued a Master of Social Work degree in School Social Work from the same institution, completing it between 2013 and 2014. Later, between 2016 and 2018, Nora attended Relay Graduate School of Education, where they earned a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education and Teaching.
