Carla Uranga has a diverse work experience spanning various scientific and research roles. Carla began their career as an Associate Production Chemist at Biophase, Inc, where they worked on product development and process improvement. Carla then moved on to Dow Chemical as a Process Development Associate, contributing to process development projects.

Afterwards, Carla worked at SAFC Pharma (Sigma-Aldrich) as a Process Development specialist, supporting the development of innovative cancer treatments. Carla performed molecular biology assays and recommended process improvements.

Carla then pursued their Master's degree in Science (Honors) at Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, focusing on the expression and localization of Na+/K+ ATPase in Litopeneaus vannamei. Carla continued their studies at CICESE, where they completed their Doctorate.

Carla joined PaxVax, Inc. as a Scientist, utilizing their scientific and technical expertise in virus purification and analytical method development. Carla made significant contributions to multiple projects.

In 2021, Carla became a Scientist at BioAtla, Inc., working on scientific projects and collaborating with the team. Carla then joined J. Craig Venter Institute as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Visiting Scientist, conducting research in the field.

Currently, Carla is a Scientist II: Metabolomics at BlueNalu, where they formulate animal component-free media and conducts statistical analysis of lipidomics data.

In addition to their scientific roles, Carla has entrepreneurial experience as the Co-Owner of Jabones Artesanales Organicos, a business specializing in handcrafted soaps made with fine oils from Ensenada, Mexico.

Carla Uranga has an extensive education history. Carla completed their Doctorate in Metabolomics at the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Masters in Science degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, which they pursued from 2010 to 2011. Carla also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Biochemistry/Cell Biology from the University of California, where they studied from 1991 to 1998. Additionally, they earned a Diploma with High Honors in Forensics from The Stratford Career Institute, which they completed from 2008 to 2009.

Carla's education journey didn't end there. Carla went on to pursue a Postdoctorate in Biochemistry/Metabolomics/Transcriptomics/Bioinformatics at the J. Craig Venter Institute starting in 2018. Their education highlights a strong academic background in various scientific fields.

In addition to their formal education, Carla has also obtained additional certifications. Carla completed a course titled "The Data Scientist’s Toolbox" from Coursera.org in July 2017.
