Giovanni Maki

Giovanni Maki has a diverse work experience in the field of communications and graphic design. Giovanni started their career in 2004 as an Art Department Intern at PLOS, where they processed research figures and designed promotional materials. In 2002, they worked as a Scientific Illustrator and Designer, collaborating with art directors and scientists on various illustration projects for clients such as PLOS scientific journals and the California Academy of Sciences. In 2010, they joined the Gladstone Institutes as a Senior Scientific Illustrator and later took on roles as a Graphic Designer, Art Director, and Associate Director of Communications. Currently, Giovanni holds the position of Creative Director, Communications at Gladstone Institutes.

Giovanni Maki has a Graduate Certificate in Scientific Communications and Science Illustration from the University of California, Santa Cruz, obtained from 2001 to 2002. They also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Fine/Studio Arts, General from the same university, obtained from 1998 to 2000. Additionally, they attended California State University - East Bay from 1996 to 1998 for Fine and Studio Arts, although the degree obtained there is not specified.
