Anya Keys

Associate Director, Scholarship Programs at Jack Kent Cooke

As manager of scholarship programs, Ms. Keys manages and oversees the team of educational advisers and the day-to-day operations of the Young Scholars Program. Since joining the Cooke Foundation in 2013, Ms. Keys has been an educational adviser and senior educational adviser, guiding Cooke Young Scholars and their families throughout their educational journeys.

Before joining the Foundation, Ms. Keys taught, advised, and mentored over 200 students at Eastern Senior High School in Northeast Washington, DC. During the 2011-2012 academic year, she taught English and writing to tenth-grade students and served as an English department chair. Prior to moving to DC, Ms. Keys began her career with Teach For America (TFA), teaching English to a diverse group of high school students in Revere, Massachusetts, just northeast of Boston.

Ms. Keys received her B.A. from the University of Virginia in French language and literature and women and gender studies, and her M.A. in curriculum and teaching from Boston University. She also practices and teaches yoga in Northern Virginia.
