Maya Loehr

Senior Educational Adviser, Young Scholars at Jack Kent Cooke

As an educational adviser, Maya provides academic advising and access to educational opportunities to the Foundation’s Cooke Young Scholars Program.

Before joining the Foundation, Maya served as a Teach For America Corps Member in Miami, where she taught 10th grade English. She also sponsored the Miami Carol City Poetry Club and helped her students advance to the semi-finals of the “Louder Than a Bomb” spoken word competition. After moving back home to Northern Virginia, Maya joined the Policy Team at College Board, where she conducted policy scans and data analysis that informed a variety of College Board initiatives and programming.

Maya holds a B.A. in Hispanic Studies with a minor in psychology from the College of William and Mary. She is currently working towards her M.Ed. in Education Policy and Leadership from American University.
