Katie Hayes has a diverse range of work experience in the education field. Katie has most recently worked at Jackson Public Schools as a Lead Teacher since 2019. Prior to this, they worked at Midtown Public Charter School as a 5th Grade Lead Teacher from 2017 to 2019. Katie also held the position of Lead Teacher at Jackson Public Schools from 2014 to 2017. Before working in Mississippi, they gained international experience as a Grade 2 Teacher at Universal American School-Kuwait from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, they worked as a Kindergarten Teacher at Tulsa Public Schools from 2008 to 2010 and as a Nursery & Preschool Teacher at Ozark Valley Day School from 2007 to 2008. Overall, Katie has a strong background in teaching various grade levels and working with diverse student populations.

Katie Hayes completed their Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from the University of the Ozarks, studying from 2005 to 2008. Katie then pursued their Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education, graduating between 2011 and 2013.
