Beverly (Bly) Straube, PhD, FSA, is a seasoned professional in archaeology and material culture interpretation, currently serving as Senior Curator at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation since February 2020. In addition to this role, Beverly has been Curator for the First Colony Foundation since 2014, where responsibilities include interpreting artifacts from the search for Sir Walter Raleigh’s lost colony. Previous experience includes serving as an Independent Material Culture Specialist from 2015 to February 2020, and Senior Archaeological Curator at Preservation Virginia from 1994 to January 2015. Beverly co-directed and curated at the James River Institute for Archaeology from 1986 to 1994. Academic qualifications comprise a Ph.D. in Archaeology from the University of Leicester, a Master’s Degree in American Studies from William & Mary, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Chatham University.
