Matt Pfohl has extensive work experience in various legal and leadership roles. Matt started their career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Minnesota Court of Appeals, assisting Judge Jack Davies with legal opinions and bench memoranda. Matt then became an Assistant City Attorney and Criminal Prosecutor for the City of Saint Paul, where they handled trial practice and appeared in court regularly.
Afterwards, Matt worked as the General Counsel and Director of Legal Services for AmericInn International, managing the intellectual property portfolio, negotiating contracts, and overseeing litigation management. Matt later joined Olson, Redford & Wahlberg, P.A. as an Attorney, specializing in commercial transactions, employment law, real estate, and commercial litigation.
In 2005, Matt started teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, focusing on appellate advocacy and improving students' legal research, writing, and presentation skills. Matt also served as the Vice President of Compliance and General Counsel for Interstate Auto Group, Inc. and its affiliated financing company, where they managed legal matters, compliance, and relationships with regulators.
Matt's most recent position was with Jefferson Capital Holdings, LLC, where they served as the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Matt led an international legal and compliance team in the consumer financial services industry, overseeing offices in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Denver, Colorado; and St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Matt Pfohl has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame. Matt also completed the Arts & Letters Program for Administrators at the same university. Additionally, Matt holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Matt further pursued a Certificate in the MBA Program with a specialization in Franchise Management at the Opus College of Business, University of St. Thomas.
