Research Director at Jobs for the Future

Lois Joy has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. From 2013 to present, they have worked at Jobs for the Future, starting as a Statistical Consultant and progressing to the roles of Senior Research Manager, Associate Research Director, and currently as the Research Director. Lois also acted as the Research Director for the Women's Faculty Forum at Yale University from 2004 to 2005, directing research on gender differences in women in higher education.

Additionally, Lois has experience as the Director at Catalyst, where they led research and evaluation on gender and racial differences in education and labor market outcomes, focusing on promoting women into top leadership and board positions in Fortune 500 companies. Lois also worked as a Statistical Consultant at Smith College from 1999 to 2004.

Lois Joy obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics & Political Economy from The Evergreen State College, where they studied from 1984 to 1986. Lois continued their education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning a Ph.D. in Economics with a specialization in Education, Labor, and Applied Econometrics. Lois completed their doctoral studies from 1988 to 1994. Additionally, in September 2019, Lois obtained certification as a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor Junior 1 from the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS).
